Jane LaRue Shoup

JANE LaRUE SHOUP, 85, OF LIMERICK Jane LaRue (Straub) Shoup, 85, of Limerick, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 11, 2011. Jane was born March 15, 1926 in Mount Carmel, PA, to the late Henrietta (Dusendschine) and Joseph Straub. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert K. Shoup. Jane was devoted to her family and to her church, Trinity Evangelical Congregational Lighthouse Church where she taught adult Sunday School Bible Study classes for over 50 years. Jane, an avid reader also enjoyed studying her Bible, sewing, knitting and counted-cross-stitch. During WWII she worked in the sewing mill in Shamokin making clothing for the military and participated in the Red Cross Training Corps. Surviving along with her husband are daughters, Lois, wife of Robert Wambold of Pottstown; Brenda, wife of David Shumate of Royersford, and Karen, wife of James Faber of North Wales, and son, Robert and his wife, Denise of Pottstown. Jane was blessed with nine grandchildren, Rob Wambold, Michelle Cassel, Jayson Weeks, Jeremy Weeks, Jared Weeks, Emily Faber, Russell Faber, R. Kevin Shoup and Alexandra Shoup; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson. Also surviving is her sister, Donna Hersh of Bloomsburg, and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Gloria Williams, preceded Jane in death. All relatives and friends are invited to the viewing and greet the family on Saturday, November 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Trinity E.C. Lighthouse Church, 66 South Limerick Road, Royersford. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Ralph W. Owens will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church Memorial Fund. Entombment will be in the Good Sheppard Mausoleum in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Arrangements are by Shalkop, Grace and Strunk Funeral Homes, Spring City.
