Jean Borneman

JEAN BORNEMAN OF POTTSTOWN Jean S. (Unruh) Borneman, 90, died Friday at her home on North Charlotte Street after a short but brave battle with cancer. She was born in Pottstown to the late Lewis and Emily Unruh. She worked for the Linfield Foundry as a Secretary. Her main focus in life was her family having two sons and a daughter, eight grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. Mrs. Borneman attended the First Baptist Church of Pottstown since she was an infant and was the longest active member of the church, serving on many of the church boards. Growing up she was very active in Christian Endeavor, spending many summer weeks at Fernbrook Church Camp and meeting her future husband in the process. She taught Sunday School Kindergarten for many, many years, and was very involved with the Flower Committee and the Gnosis Class, spearheading the Rummage Sales. Jean enjoyed traveling the world with her friends and family, spending summers at the Delaware shore, and knitting, reading, and quilting. She was an enthusiastic angel collector and a member of the Angel Collectors Club of America. For years, she and her husband and family camped throughout Pennsylvania with the Laurel State Travel Trailer Club eventually trailering across the United States with friends. Through her numerous cards and letters, she showed her great compassion and love for others. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Maurice, to whom she was married for 52 years, and her brother, Robert (Bob). She is survived by her sister, Betty (Unruh) Hessler from Pottsgrove and sister-in-law, Iva Couch from Holton, Kansas. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, M. Dale and Carole Borneman of Pineville; Todd Borneman and Jodi Woods of Philadelphia; Tricia Borneman and Tom Murtha and their daughter, Dakota of Blooming Glen; Terry and Louise Borneman of Westminster, MD; Jennie Borneman and her daughter, Skye of Wellsboro, Tracy Borneman Rose and Eli Rose of North Carolina, and Troy Borneman of Canada; Marcia Borneman Lyon and Mike Lyon of Annapolis, MD, Tori Lyon of California, Trevor Lyon of New York, and Cassi Lyon of Florida; her loving sister Betty and her family, as well as Bob's; sister-in-law Iva and her family. Visitation and funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, at First Baptist Church, 301 King Street, Pottstown, with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Marsh officiating. Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m., and the funeral service is at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, North Coventry Township. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund in Jean's name, 301 King St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
