John C. Lachman

JOHN C. LACHMAN, 88 John C. Lachman, 88, of Charlevoix and Petoskey, MI, retired President of Hoskins Manufacturing Company, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Boulder Park Terrace. He was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Pottstown, Pa., to the late Wellington "Duke" and Harriet A. (McLauglin) Lachman. John graduated from Pottstown Senior High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Marines during World War II and served in Japan during the Korean War. On Feb. 22, 1947, he married Agnes Sneddon in Pottstown, Pa. John worked for the General Electric Company during the late 1950s as a metallurgist. In 1960, he joined Hoskins Manufacturing in Detroit, moving to Charlevoix in 1963 to become plant manager. He was promoted to vice president of manufacturing for the United States, Europe and Canada. John was an avid golfer, fly fisherman, and reader of numerous subjects, living a long fulfilling life with "no regrets." John is survived by his wife, Agnes Lachman, of Charlevoix; three children, Janice (David) Erikson of Shelby Township, MI, Jeffrey (Laurie) Lachman of Novi and John Charles (Karen) Lachman of Frankenmuth, MI; niece, Alison Hartman, Embody, North Coventry; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and twin infant sons. A memorial service will take place in the spring of 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Charlevoix with a private graveside service at Norwood Township Cemetery, Norwood, Mich.
