John D. Koenig Jr, 71, of Gilbertsville, Pa., died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Manatawny Manor, Pottstown, Pa. He was the fiancé of Dale Schrump, of Gilbertsville, Pa.
Born in Reading, Pa., Mr. Koenig was the son of Mary (Kuzan) Koenig and the late John D. Koenig Sr.
Mr. Koenig was a 1959 graduate of Pottstown High School. He was a tool and die maker and worked for Doehler Jarvis Co., Pottstown, before establishing J. D. Koenig Jr. Tool and Die Company, Boyertown. He retired in 2005.
He was an auto enthusiast and enjoyed his 2008 Corvette.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, from Maidencreek, Pa., are three sons, Gregory A. Koenig, and his wife, Kimberly, of Pottstown, Pa., Jeffrey S. Koenig, and his wife, Amy, of Exter, Pa., and Todd M. Koenig Sr., and his wife, Corinne, of East Coventry Twp., Pa. Additionally, he's survived by a brother, K. Karl Koenig, and his wife, Christina, of West Lawn, Pa., and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth, wife of Daniel Nace, of Shillington, Pa., and Marjorie A. Hummel, widow of Neal Hummel, of Marshall's Creek, Pa. He's also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
