JOHN E. SHENKLE, 81, OF PHOENIXVILLE John E. Shenkle, 81, a lifetime resident of Phoenixville, died on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Phoenixville Hospital. He was born in Phoenixville to the late Edmund R. and Mary (Vanderslice) Shenkle. John was a 1947 graduate of Phoenixville High School and a 1951 graduate of the Philadelphia Art Museum School of Art. He was employed for many years as a professional artist for Delaware County, PA until his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was also an active and sustaining member of the Republican Party. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth, wife of the late John Corbin, of Phoenixville; nephew, Thomas W. Murray Jr. and wife, of Worcester, MA and niece, Jane E. Murray, of Lionville. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at First U.M.C., 865 S. Main St. Phoenixville, PA 19460. Officiating will be Rev. Amy C. Smith. Friends will be received one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the church at the above address.
