John P. Schuler

JOHN P. SCHULER John P. Schuler, 80, 0f Old Zionsville, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in the Inpatient Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. His wife Anna M.A. (Schuler) Schuler predeceased him in 2004 after 46 years of marriage. Born in Vera Cruz, he was a son of the late Preston F. and Eva A (Schafer) Schuler. John worked for Pillsbury Company formerly of East Greenville for 32 years before retiring in 1994. Before that, he worked for Bethlehem Steel for nine years. He was a member of Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville. He graduated from Emmaus High School in 1950. He served with the U. S. Navy from 1952 to 1954 and retired from the Navy Reserve in 1983. He was a life member of the Navy Enlisted Reserve Association. John held life memberships in the Macungie Fire Company, Emmaus Number 2 Fire Company, Breinigsville VFW Post #8282 and the Upper Milford Western District Fire Company where he was President from 2000 2007. He was a member of American Legion Post Number 184, East Greenville, Citizens Fire Company, Vera Cruz and Lower Milford Fire Company. He coached both of his sons in baseball at the Upper Milford Youth Association and enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. Survivoring are sons, Jeff and his wife Janice of Alburtis; Jim and his wife Kim of Pipersville; three grandchildren, Michele, PFC Michael USMC and Matthew; brothers, Lamar of Orwigsburg and Carl Sr. of Bossier City, LA; many nieces and nephews including Lynda with whom he helped raise. John was one of nine children; six of his siblings predeceased him. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville, PA. Burial will follow at Ziegels Union Cemetery, Breinigsville. His viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
