JOSEPH J. BRANDEL, 81, OF POTTSTOWN Joseph J. Brandel, 81, widower of Janet E. (Hafer) Brandel of North Hanover Street, Pottstown, died Sunday at his residence. Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late William James and Edna (Long) Brandel. Joseph was a welder and a welding instructor for the Bethlehem Steel Company, formerly of Pottstown for 35 years. He had also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. Joseph was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Camp Westdon in LaPorte, PA and a life member of the Pottstown Quoit Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are three daughters JoAnne wife of Bradley Binsfeld, Sr. of Pottstown, Susan M. Bailey of Hamburg, and Cindy L. wife of Dennis Yost, Sr. of Barto. He is also survived by a brother Richard Brandel husband of Edna of Gilbertsville, and a sister Dorothy widow of Earnel Kehler of Stowe, PA and four grandchildren Annmarie Binsfeld, Judy Marie Frederick wife of John Frederick, Joseph Bailey and Shane DeLano husband of Kristen, five step-grandchildren and one great-grandson Sage Joseph Bailey. He was pre-deceased by a brother William Brandel and four sisters Mildred Hood, Edna Miller, Helena Hodacz and Irene White. A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening April 26, 2012 at 7 p.m. from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home 726 East High Street, Pottstown, with the Rev. Joseph Dietz, officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 - 7 p.m. at the funeral Home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
