Rev. Kenneth L. Kline

The Rev. Kenneth L. Kline, 84, husband of Jeanette (Ertman) Kline of Frederick, formerly of Perkiomenville, died Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
He was born in Reading to the late Arthur C. and Grace I. (Wahl) Kline.
He was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School, a 1951 graduate of Albright College and a 1954 graduate of United Theological Seminary. He was an ordained Minister of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.
From 1954 to 1974 he served as Pastor of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in New Berlinville, which became St. Andrew United Methodist Church under his tenure. He also served as Pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Fleetwood from 1980-1992. After his retirement he served as Visitation Pastor and was named Pastor Emeritus at St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, where he served as Secretary, and a member of the Board of Pension and Health Benefits. He also taught for 24 years as an adjunct professor in the religion department of Albright College.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are one daughter, Kathleen G. Kolarz, wife of Gregory Herb of Gilbertsville; two sons, Steven R. Kline, husband of Judith of Gilbertsville and Michael W. Kline, husband of Susan Rubinstein of Havertown; six grandchildren, Kyle Kolarz, Elizabeth Cremer, Megan Kolarz, Amy Kline, Ethan Kline and Noah Kline; and two brothers, Arthur R. Kline and Donald L. Kline, both of Reading.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 611 Swamp Creek Road, New Berlinville, PA. Burial will be in St. Andrew United Methodist Church Cemetery. There will be no viewing, but friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
