Mary Elaine (Shepsko) Menkins, 74, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2013, in Paoli Hospital. Elaine went to be with the Lord after fighting a valiant battle with ovarian cancer.
Elaine was the loving wife of Richard D. "Richie" Menkins. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Michelle, wife of Jack Foell; Richard, husband of Kathryne Menkins, and Beth Ann, wife of Tully Leomporra. She is also survived by one sister, Jean Marie, wife of William Stephenson. Elaine was the proud grandmother of Matthew, Tim, Ryan and Stephen Foell, Katie Shemonski and Alex Menkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Mary (Fuga), brothers, Joseph P. and Richard J., and her sister, Theresa "Ginger" English.
Elaine graduated from Phoenixville High School, class of 1956. She earned an associate's degree from Wesley College, Dover, Del. Elaine was the office manager at RSZ Orthopedic Associates. She was very instrumental in establishing the Paoli MRI Center. Elaine then served as its administrator for many years.
In addition to her complete pride and devotion to her family, Elaine enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She was an accomplished artist in several mediums. She loved tending her flower gardens at home, as well as her shore getaway home, "La Fuga Grande."
Her beautiful singing voice was enjoyed by all. Elaine was known as a proverbial beach bum since she frequently was found on the beach of Avalon, N.J., avidly reading the latest best seller.
Elaine was a devoted life-long parishioner in her beloved Sacred Heart Parish. She took pride in her role as editor, and chief author of the book published to honor the centennial of Sacred Heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Sacred Heart R.C. Church at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Francis J. Bartos. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville.
