MARY R. FERKO, 85, OF PHOENIXVILLE Mary R. (Chenger) Ferko, 85, wife of John P. Ferko Sr., of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 under the care of Hospice Inspiris in her home. Born in Coatesville, PA, she was a daughter of the late George and Ann (Liska) Chenger. Mrs. Ferko attended the Villa Maria Academy. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Phoenixville, where she was active in the former Ladies' Guild as well as volunteering in the Sacred Heart school cafeteria. In her youth, Mrs. Ferko enjoyed to play basketball, and had been an assistant girl scout leader. An excellent homemaker, she loved to cook and bake, and was devoted to her family and husband, with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage with on June 21. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ferko is survived by one daughter, Teri Gebhard, of East Coventry; one son, John P. Jr., husband of Patrice (Miller) Ferko, of Brookhaven, PA; two sisters, Ann Bondi of Norristown and Dorothy Abbonizio of Conshohocken; three brothers, George and John Chenger of Coatesville, and Paul Chenger of Downingtown; three grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, and Katharine Gebhard; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Ann Ferko, and one sister, Betty McCarthy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at the Sacred Heart Church, 148 Church Street, Phoenixville, on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael W. Rzonca. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to , 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
