MIRIAM A. JOHNSTON, 98, OF DOUGLASSVILLE Miriam A. Johnston passed away on February 26, 2013 at the age of 98, in Douglassville, surrounded by her loving "chosen" family. Known to most as simply Mim, she will be remembered for her happy-go-lucky disposition, mischievous smile and incredible memory. A daughter of the late Foster and Dora Walter, Mim was born in West Milton, PA, on October 25, 1914. Her husband, Glen R. (Bob) Johnston, passed away in November 1980. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ethel Lepore of Camp Hill, PA. Mim moved to Gilbertsville in the late 1940's and worked in women's apparel at the former Select Shop in Boyertown and The New York Store in Pottstown. She had also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Saint Andrew's United Methodist Church in New Berlinville, PA, where she was active in the women's group for several decades. She enjoyed making crafts and candy and serving meals with the Saint Andrew's Church Women. Mim was an avid sports fan and followed the Boyertown Legion Baseball Team for many years. She was also a devoted New York Yankees Fan, always referring to them as "my Yankees". However, Mim's favorite past time was bragging about her "grandchildren", Caitlin and Chloe. Mim is survived by her "chosen family" David, Lisa and Chloe Baro, with whom she resided; Caitlin and Brandon Schwalm of Lebanon, PA, and Chloe's companion, Mark Seidel of Pottstown. The Baro Family would like to extend their appreciation to all of their friends and family for all the love they extended to Mim for many years.
