Norma Mardi-Kern

NORMA MARDI-KERN, 91, OF ROYERSFORD Norma (Hofmann) Mardi- Kern, a retired insurance underwriter, died on Thursday, March 1, 2012 in the Sanatoga Center, Pottstown. Mrs. Kern of Royersford was 91 years old and was the widow of both the late John Mardi, who died in 1955 and the late William L. Kern, who died in 2002. Norma was born in Norristown on January 6, 1921, a daughter to the late George and Laura (Fratt) Hofmann. She was a member of The Red Hat Society, Young at Heart and her hobbies included ceramics, sewing and crocheting. Her daughters, Patti McKinnon and husband, W. Scott of Wilmington, NC, and Jacki Trankle of Harleysville, survive her along with her five grandchildren, James H. Trankle Jr., John W. Trankle, Jodi L. Hoffman, Melissa McGowan and Heather Lane; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings, Sara Ruttman, George Hofmann, Virginia McKay and Bertha Cressman, preceded her in death. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Norma's "Life Celebration" this morning at the Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike (1-800-GIVNISH), from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service in Riverside Cemetery, 200 S. Montgomery Avenue, Norristown, PA 19403 with the Reverend Paul E. Toms, III, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Norristown officiating.
