Richard J. Rees

RICHARD J. REES, 84, OF POTTSTOWN Richard J. Rees, 84, of Sunnyside Ave., Pottstown, husband of Olga S. (Symanovich) Rees, died Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born in Sanatoga, PA, he was a son of the late John S. Rees and the late Verna C. (Schlichter) Rees. Richard was a 1946 graduate of Pottstown High School. Mr. Rees worked as a foreman for the former Bethlehem Steel Company for thirty years until his retirement, and also worked for Allied Tank in Collegeville. He served in the Merchant Marines, was a member of Falkner Swamp United Church of Christ, Gilbertsville, the Benevolent and Protective order of the Elk's Lodge #814, Pottstown, and was a A.P.B.A. stock outboard boat racer and builder, and enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Barry R. Rees, Green Lane, and Gregory D. Rees and his wife, Andrea, Eagleville; a brother, William L. Rees, Oregon, and three grandchildren, Anna, Davis, and Lila. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Rees. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory 359 King St., Pottstown. Burial will be in Falkner Swamp Cemetery, Gilbertsville. There will be a viewing Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in his memory to Cat Angel Network P.O. Box 3071, Stowe, PA 19464.
