Richard L. Firing

RICHARD L. FIRING, 80, OF POTTSTOWN Richard L. Firing, 80, of Pottstown, husband of the late Pauline Anne (Pietropaolo) Firing, passed away Saturday March 15, 2014. Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Frances C. (Sorg) Firing. Richard served as a sailor in the U.S. Navy receiving an honorable discharge in 1960. He worked as a UAW pipe fitter for Firestone Tire and Rubber and Occidental Petroleum before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Pottstown Elks BPOE #814. He enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and attending his grandchildren's events. Richard was a beloved father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Richard is survived by his two daughters Pamela Hacker wife of Stephen, and Kris Castrinoes wife of George, Jr.; five grandchildren Clayton L., Craig J., and Rosalee A. Hacker, and Carrie M. and Carly A. Castrinoes; one sister Phyllis Ludy; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend and companion Gloria Burk. A viewing will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 9-10:45 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center Inc., 711 N.Franklin St., Pottstown. The funeral service will commence at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Karl Simmers officiating. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Buchert Road, Pottstown.
