ROBERT F. ATKINSON, 85, OF ROYERSFORD Robert F. Atkinson, 85, beloved husband of Doris (McDaniel) Atkinson, of Royersford, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013, in the Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. Born in Stowe, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Grace (Vroman) Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was a 1945 graduate of Phoenixville High School and attended Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia. He served with the SeaBees in the United States Navy during the latter part of World World II while stationed in Okinawa and Guam. He drove taxi for Phoenix Radio Cab in Phoenixville, worked as a mechanic in Hornings Garage in Royersford, and repaired radio and televisions from his home. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Spring City American Legion and the Royersford VFW. He was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed music recordings. With Project Outreach, Mr. Atkinson was a volunteer driver and worked with the food pantry. In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Mr. Atkinson is survived by two sons, James R., husband of Karen Atkinson, of Seattle, WA, and Mark A., husband of Nicole Atkinson, of Linfield; three grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle and Rachel; six great-grandchildren, Kalin, Job, Logan, Chase, Malik and Monni; one brother, Eugene Atkinson, of Sanatoga, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main Street at Sixth Avenue, Royersford, on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul H. Neff and Rev. Janelle L. Krais officiating. Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 594 Church Street, First Floor, Royersford, PA 19468.
