Robert Kovach

ROBERT KOVACH, 79, OF POTTSTOWN Robert Kovach, 79, of Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove Twp., husband of Nancy (Mansur) Kovach, passed away on Saturday at Manatawny Manor. Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Alex and Emma (Nagy) Kovach. Robert was the VoTech teacher in the machine shop at Pottstown High School for 26 years, retiring in 1991. He received his BS in education at Temple University, and was a Korean War Army veteran serving from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Pottstown where he was a deacon and an elder. Robert was also a member of the Phoenixville F & AM Lodge #75 where he obtained his 32nd Degree, the Tall Cedars in Spring City, Friendship Fire Co in Phoenixville, and the William Penn Fraternal Assoc., Lehigh Consistory. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed bowling and all his life was known for growing Hungarian hot peppers. Surviving with his wife of 58 years is son, Robert S. Kovach, husband of Julie, of GA; daughters, Kathy Confer, wife of Larry Jr., of Pottstown; Cynthia A. Liesau of Pine Forge, and Betsy Griffith, wife of C. David, of Pottstown; grandchildren, Kristina, Larry III, Ashley, Rachel, Hannah and Sarah, and great-granddaughter, Kiera. Along with his parents he is predeceased by his brothers, Alexander and William Kovach. A funeral service will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. Paul's UCC, 927 North Franklin Street Pottstown, PA 19464 with Rev. Rebecca Brenner officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be private at Highland Memorial Park.
