Ronald P. Gerhart

RONALD P. GERHART, 76, OF BOYERTOWN Ronald P. Gerhart, 76, of Boyertown, husband of Mary Ellen (Schaeffer) Gerhart, died Saturday at Berkshire Center. Born in Bechtelsville, PA, he was the son of the late Earl Gerhart and Evelyn (Badman) Gerhart. Ronald was a 1954 graduate of Boyertown High School. He worked as the office manager of the Pottstown Nipple Works in Pottstown for 36 years. He also worked as the office manager of Summit Steel of Wyomissing for 13 years and was employed as a cook and dishwasher at the Grill Shop in Boyertown for six years. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bechtelsville. Ronald was very active in I.O.O.F., serving on all degrees staff, first joining the Boyertown Lodge #708 in 1959 and he later transferred to Leesport Lodge #141. He was also a member of the Earl R. Leiby Encampment #106 and the Lady Colfax Rebecca Lodge #182 in Leesport. He was a past District Deputy Grandmaster and a past member of the Grand Lodge of PA. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Middleton Home, serving as second vice-president. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 52 years are one son, Darryl Gerhart, husband of Stacy of Boyertown; two granddaughters, Stacy Lynn Gerhart and Sarah Kohler, both of Boyertown; one grandson, Ian Kohler of Boyertown; one brother, Melvin Gerhart, husband of Barbara Gerhart of Boyertown; one nephew, Jeffrey Gerhart of Boyertown, and one niece, Lisa Gerhart of Boyertown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1749 South Main Street, Bechtelsville. A viewing will be held at 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the church. An Odd Fellows service will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Middletown Home, 999 West Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, PA 17057 and to the , 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
