Ruth J. Stauffer

RUTH J. STAUFFER, 84, OF FREDERICK Ruth J. (Gaby) Stauffer, 84, widow of E. Kenneth Stauffer, of Frederick, formerly of Boyertown passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in the Frederick Living. Born in Kutztown, she was the daughter of the late Bessie M. (Vaitkunas) and William Gaby. Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Kutztown High School. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Nurses School, Reading; received her BS from West Chester University, and received her Masters at Kutztown State Teachers College in Guidance. In addition to private nursing, she was a School Nurse for 23 years at Oley High School, Boyertown Junior High School East and West, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown. A member of the Boyertown Unity Coalition; Boyertown and Oley Retired Teachers Association; Boyertown Area Historical and other Historical Societies in the Berks County Area; Sister Cities of Boyertown; and the Boyertown Multi-Service. Ruth loved to read and watch the musical activities of her grandchildren. Ruth is survived by a son, Michael K., husband of Jody (Slaughter) Stauffer of Palo Alto, CA; a daughter, Carole A., wife of Daniel F. Kershetsky of Bechtelsville; three grandchildren, Brandon Stauffer of Palo Alto, CA, and Julia and Alexander Kershetsky of Bechtelsville. She was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Cook. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Reverend John G. Pearson will officiate. A viewing will be Tuesday between 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sassamansville. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Boyertown Alumni Marching Unit, P. O. Box 93, Boyertown, PA 19512. Arrangements are being handled by the Linwood W.
