Ruth Neiffer

RUTH NEIFFER, 96, FORMERLY OF POTTSTOWN Ruth (Whalen) Neiffer, 96, of Lebanon, PA formerly of North Franklin Street, Pottstown, widow of Harrison W. Neiffer to whom she was married for 58 years, died Thursday in Lebanon. Born in Royersford, PA, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Phoebe G. (Wanner) Whalen. She was once employed as a secretary by the former Interboro Press of Spring City. She also worked in the cafeteria of both the Pottstown High School and Pennhurst. Mrs. Neiffer was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church, Pottstown. She was a member of the Schuylkill Chapter Order of Eastern Star #338; Ladies Auxillary Knights Templar and the Order of Ameranth #113. Mrs. Neiffer loved to knit and knitted for Project Linus and Warm Up America. She and her late husband volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She loved to work on word puzzles, but mostly she loved her family and cooking meals for them. Surviving is one daughter, Janet R. Neiffer, Lebanon with whom she resided since 2007; one son, Jay Harrison Neiffer, Elizabethtown, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother John Robert Whalen. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St. Pottstown. Officiating will be Reverend Barry L. Moyer. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. There will be a viewing from 12:30 until 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
