William W. Meredith

WILLIAM W. MEREDITH, 94, OF WEST CHESTER William W. Meredith, 94, of West Chester, formerly South Coventry, passed away on Thursday evening, October 11, 2012, in the Pembrooke Health and Rehabilitation Residence. He was the husband of 72 years to Mildred (Brown) Meredith, who passed away on September 23. Born in Modena, Chester County, PA, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Florence (Townsley) Meredith. Mr. Meredith served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Jaccard taking part in the liberation of the Philippines. He was an over the road truck driver for 45 years for Hines of Glenlock, Atkinson of Philadelphia, Heater of Buffalo, NY, the Miller Brothers of Honeybrook, as well as A. Duie Pyle of Coatesville. He was a school bus driver for the Owen J. Roberts School District for 13 years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Spring City, where he served as sexton for 14 years. He was also an usher and on the cemetery board for several years. He was also a member of the Spring City American Legion for 66 years and the Downingtown VFW. Mr. Meredith is survived by his son, Larry E. husband of Lois H. Meredith, of Claymont, DE; three grandchildren, Laurel Christine, Noelle Suzanne and Darryl William Meredith, and his Goddaughter, Beverly Brittingham. He was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin Jr. and Francis Meredith. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 952 Bethel Church Road, Spring City, PA 19475, on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Jacqueline A. Hines officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Friends will be received from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Bethel United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home.
