BARBARA MOYER KEIRSEY OF COLLEGEVILLE Barbara Ann (Moyer) Keirsey, 83, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Seasons Hospice of Phoenixville Hospital, after a sudden yet brief battle with cancer. Born November 19, 1929 in Norristown, she was the only child of the late Stanley and Ann (Wilson) Moyer. She was Class Salutatorian of Norristown High School Class of 1948, and was an enthusiastic organizer of all NHS '48 class reunions. After high school, she briefly attended Ursinus College, and worked for the Times Herald as reporter on the Society Column. Barb returned to school at Montgomery County Community College where she earned her Associates Degree in 1981. She started a long career as a Teacher Assistant working with profoundly handicapped children at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. She was very active in her community, especially with the Methacton High School PTA rising to President of that organization. She was also remained active in her church, Lower Providence Baptist, running the Christmas Bazaar every year. She was an inspiration to many as a two-time survivor of breast cancer. She was a true lover of reading, travel, and the great outdoors. Her idea of contentment was a lounge chair under an umbrella, toes in the sand, good book in hand, on the shores of Long Beach Island, her summer retreat. And Barb never missed a year going down the shore to her favorite place on LBI. She will be remembered as a strong and committed mother and grandmother, a resilient survivor, and a shining joy to her family. Barb was also a mother of six children with former husband, Walter H. Keirsey III. She was predeceased by her daughter, Robin L. Nash (Richard), and son, Jeffery S. Keirsey. She is survived by Walter H. Keirsey IV (Mary), Pottstown; Jill A. Waldon (Scott), Lawrenceville, GA; Mark S. Keirsey, Gilberton, PA, and Andrew M. Keirsey, Sanford, NC; as well as daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Keirsey, Norristown. She was proud "Gran" to 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives may call Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at Lower Providence Baptist Church, 3430 Ridge Pike, Eagleville, PA 19403 with services at 11. Burial in the church cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, go ahead and send some flowers to an old friend, to your spouse, to your church....
