CHARLES M. DUNNING, 82, OF DOUGLASSVILLE Charles M. Dunning, 82, of Douglassville, PA, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Reading Hospital, Reading, PA. He was the husband of Diana (Levengood) Dunning with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of Sara (Reider) Dunning of Spring City, PA and the late Clinton Dunning. An Army Veteran, he served during the Korean War. Mr. Dunning was a shipper for Techalloy (Rahns, PA) for approximately 27 years. He also was an Amity Township Police officer in 1970s. "Pop Cha" was a car enthusiast, and member of the Pottstown Classic Car Club. He owned a 1986 Dodge Caravan, customized with various Pig memorabilia he collected. He was also a member of the Monarch Fire Company, where he had served as captain of their fire police. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #482 in Phoenixville, PA. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one daughter, Karen M., wife of Randal Mauger of Douglassville; one brother, Eugene Dunning and his wife, Dianne of Creamery, PA; one sister, Ruth, wife of the late John Hughes, of Spring City, PA; two grandchildren, Mandy, wife of Kevin Strain, and Randal S. Mauger II, and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Hailey Strain. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Dunning, and his sisters, Doris George and Halley Dunning. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown. The Rev. Gregory W. Frey will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. A viewing will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
