DANIEL E. LUDWIG, 84, OF POTTSTOWN Daniel E. "Danny" Ludwig, 84, of Pottstown, husband of Nancy L. (Bitting) Ludwig, passed away on Monday, July 22, at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville. Born in Pottstown on March 6, 1929, he was the son of the late David and Grace (Reninger) Ludwig. Daniel was a 1948 Graduate of Pottstown High School. He Served in the National Guard as Staff Sergeant of the 111th Division. He was a retired draftsman who worked for Sanders & Thomas, Wolko Engineering, Giambrones Drafting and Pineforge Drafting as a structural draftsman for steel buildings, towers and bridges. He had also helped design Upper Pottsgrove Swimming Pool and Baseball Field. Daniel enjoyed sports all his life and helped form and coach track, baseball and basketball teams for youths in his earlier years. He played recreational volleyball and basketball much of his life and in his later years he started a Senior Volleyball Team in Pottstown. Surviving with his wife of 63 years are children, Penny, married to Don Shupp; Garry Ludwig; Debra, married to Lonnie Kolarz, and Craig Ludwig; grandchildren, Teresa Vaughn, Josie Mill, Rose Vaughn, Clint Kolarz and Jesse Kolarz; great-grandchildren, Bryce Deboard, Tyler Mace, Tabetha Mill, Riley Kolarz, Colby Kolarz and Jacob Kolarz, and sister, Shirley married to Donald Sides, resides in Tennessee. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by daughter, Sandra L. Ludwig; sisters, Marion Leberman, Eleanor Nagle, Ardith Johnson, and brother, Carl Ludwig. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Hanover Street, Pottstown, on Thursday, July 25, at 11 a.m. with Reverend James Wolford officiating. Burial will be held at Highland Memorial Park. Viewing will be Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Hanover Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
