Edward McDaniel Obituary

EDWARD H. MCDANIEL, 85, OF PHOENIXVILLE Edward H. McDaniel, 85, husband of C. Lea (Famous) McDaniel, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at home. Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late Harry and Thelma (Shatt) McDaniel. He was a graduate of Phoenixville High School, Class of 1946. He worked as a salesman for the West Company in Phoenixville for 40 years. Edward was a Past President of the Phoenixville Jaycees, and was the announcer for the Dogwood Parade for 22 years. He served on the Phoenixville Hospital Board and was a chairperson for the Phoenixville Hospital Building Fund and the Phoenixville Library, Phoenixville Fire Department Board, Recreation Board for Phoenixville Boro, Past President of the Phoenixville School Board and was a member of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club. In the late 1980's he was named Citizen of the Year. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Bonnie L. McDaniel of Laurel, DE; Patricia A. Young of Pottstown; Gail S. Griffith of Schwenksville; and his son, Robert C. McDaniel and wife Cindy of Pottstown; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry McDaniel of Florida and Richard McDaniel of Phoenixville. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce and Louise and his brother William. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service in the Charlestown United Methodist Church, 650 Church Road, Malvern, PA on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Washington Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, PA. Visitation will be held in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Charlestown United Methodist Church, 650 Church Road, Malvern, PA 19355. I'm always going to remember the pinochle games and the infamous Mother's Day saying. I'll never forget the 5 hour car rides to the cabin and the many times we spent at the Moose.
Above all I will always remember Dad as an honest and kind-hearted person who was respected and loved by all who met him.
