Dr. Howard George Lee

DR. HOWARD GEORGE LEE Howard "Bud" Lee, 88, husband of Irene Bogus Lee, of Phoenixville, died Saturday, April 27, 2013. Born in Springdale, PA, he was the son of the late George and Beatrice Lee. He was educated at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. He was drafted into the army during World War II and served in the 14th Armored Division in France and Germany from 1943-1946. When the war ended he continued his education and graduated from Temple Medical School in 1951. He moved to Phoenixville in 1952 and started a general medical practice. In 1972 he began working as an emergency room physician at Phoenixville Hospital and continued there until his retirement. He served for many years as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Phoenixville and also taught Sunday school. In the late 1960's, he founded the organization PROJECT HELP, a resource group for addicted people. He had many diverse interests that included playing the trumpet, painting, woodworking, hunting and traveling. He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Donnelly of Doylestown and Nancy Fenning of Williamstown, NJ; one son, Jack Lee of Spring City, and nine grandchildren. His first wife of 50 years, Betty died in 1997. At his request, his body has been donated to the Anatomical Society of Philadelphia for medical research. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church at Main and Morgan Streets on Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m. The family will greet guests from 10:15 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the church.
