John Clarke Obituary

JOHN M. CLARKE SR., 74, OF UPPER PROVIDENCE John M. "Jack" Clarke Sr., 74, Fruit Farm Rd., Upper Providence Twp., died Tuesday, at Phoenixville Hospital. He was a former resident of San Mateo, FL. Mr. Clarke was born on November 5, 1938, in Norristown, and was a son of the late George W. and Thelma C. (Antes) Clarke. He was a graduate of Spring-Ford High School, attended Tennessee Temple Univ., and graduated from Shelton College, with a bachelor of arts degree in music and the Bible. Mr. Clarke was a music director for Schuylkill Valley Baptist Church, Spring City, and San Mateo Baptist Church. He also worked for Bonnie Brae Auction, East Pikeland and Pottstown. Mr. Clarke was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church where he was a choir member, pianist, and taught the Sr. Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Clarke is survived by his children, D'Layne, wife of Christopher Jacobs, Nederland, TX, Sonya Baumann, Houston, TX, and J. Martin Clarke, Jr. Houston, TX; his brother, Eugene P. Clarke, Upper Providence Twp.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, with the Rev. Ralph Owens, Pastor, officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, at church. Burial will be private in Grace Evangelical Congregational Cemetery, Trappe. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 66 S. Limerick Rd., Royersford, PA 19468. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe.
