JOSEPH S. HIGH, 90, FORMERLY OF SCHWENKSVILLE Joseph S. High, 90, formerly of Schwenksville, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Grandview Hospital in Sellersville. He was the husband of the late Lillian Ada (Gill) High, to whom he was married to for over 50 years. Born February 27, 1923 in Schwenksville, he was the son of the late Reuben Moyer High and Anna Mable (Scholl) High. Mr. High was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Schwenksville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Western Pacific and Southern Philippines. Mr. High was a graduate of Penn State University class of 1951, earning his Bachelors in Science and Education. After college, "Jumpin' Joe" High taught physical and health education at the Perkiomen Valley High School until his retirement in 1980. Mr. High was also a member of the Warren Lodge 310 F & A. M. of Collegeville for over 69 years. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid fly fisherman, tied flies as a hobby and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Jody Roshong and her husband, Robert of Spring Mount, and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Royston. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Reuben High. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Second and Church streets, Schwenksville, where friends may call for the viewing from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow at Schwenksville Cemetery.
