MELISSA SCALTRITO Melissa Scaltrito died peacefully at Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital on October 13, 2014 surrounded by her family. Born Melissa (Missy) Mae Thompson May 5, 1959 in Pottstown to Carroll E Thompson and Marilyn J (Focht) Thompson both deceased. Melissa graduated from Pottstown High School in 1977 and from The Allentown School of Nursing in 1984. Melissa was as a nurse at Allentown Hospital starting in 1984, Paoli Hospital in 1990, and ManorCare Health Services in Pottstown from 1993 until just weeks ago. Melissa worked as nurse in the Pottsgrove, Boyertown, and Pottstown school districts including the past five years as part time School Nurse at Rupert Elementary School. Having a passion for helping young children, Melissa began working part time this past year at the Warwick Child Care Centers. Melissa is survived by her children Julie Scaltrito and Frank A Scaltrito and her husband Frank P Scaltrito, brothers Blake and Edward Thompson, their wives Fran and Vicki Thompson, her niece Zoe Thompson and nephews Jonathan and Matthew Thompson, nieces Alexa and Dominque Scaltrito and nephew Michael Scaltrito, and great-nephew Zachary Thompson. It was Melissa's wish that her remains be cremated, that there be no funeral, and that the burial be private. Friends and relatives are asked to meet with the family to remember Melissa on Saturday, October 25 any time from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Cutillo's Restaurant, Sanatoga Rd and High St. Pottstown. Instead of flowers, friends and relatives are asked to donate in Melissa's memory to any favorite charity that benefits disadvantaged children or protects our streams and rivers.

Melissa was such a sweet and gentle soul. I loved it that she loved coming to South Philly to visit with my parents and "her cousins", especially on New Year's Day. My thoughts and prayers continue for Frankie, Julie, and young Frankie. I hope you all find comfort knowing that she so loved you and was always so proud of you, and that she is now at peace. Unfortunately, Mark and I will be out of town this weekend, so we won't be able to attend on Saturday, but we'll be thinking of you and hope to see you over the holidays. Love, Linda

Dear Scaltrito Family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I had the great pleasure of working with Melissa while she substituted at the south Coventry warwick center. She was very happy, and always came eager to work. She always had toys for the children and played games with them. She always came with a smile and the children loved her. She will be deeply missed by all of the students and teachers and staff. May she rest peacefully.

I was dancing with another nurse at my cousin Lois' wedding. Frankie & Melissa were dsncing next to us. One of the grooms friends stepped on his dance partner's feet. She started hopping around in pain and Melissa lost it. Another is when my late wife was in the hospital on THANKSGIVING and Melissa invited me to her house to share Thanksgiving dinner. She was ALL RIGHT in my book.
