Norman Hunsberger Obituary

NORMAN WILLIS HUNSBERGER, SR., 84 Norman Willis Hunsberger, Sr., 84, husband of the late Anna M. (Hawkins) Hunsberger, Frederick Living, Upper Frederick Twp., died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in Phoenixville Hospital. He was a former resident of Upper Providence Twp. Mr. Hunsberger was born on September 13, 1928, in Upper Providence Twp., a son of the late Abram J. and Elizabeth W. (Histand) Hunsberger. He graduated from Phoenixville High School and served in the U.S. Army, in Korea, during the Korean War. Willis was a master carpenter who enjoyed woodworking and gardening and had built his own family home. Earlier in his vocation, he was employed for over thirty years for Calvin H. Shaffer, Inc., a building contractor in Norristown. He worked at Ursinus College in the building maintenance department for many years and retired in 1993. A member of St. James Lutheran Church, Limerick Twp., he served as an usher, church council member, and sexton and also participated in Limerick Senior Fellowship. He also volunteered with Project Outreach, Royersford and the Trappe Community 4H Club. He is survived by his children, Norman W., Jr., husband of Brenda (Reilley) Hunsberger, Collegeville, John M., husband of Kathy (Lear) Hunsberger, Perkiomen Twp., Carol L., wife of Stanley Hess, Bernville, and Donna M., wife of Angelo Longobardi, W. Norriton Twp.; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; his brothers, David M., husband of Sara (Kindle) Hunsberger, Woodstown, NJ, A. Franklin, husband of the late Catherine (Malin) Hunsberger, Knoxville, TN, and Walter I., husband of Irene (Landes) Hunsberger, Skippack Twp. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 5 at the Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., 21 Main St., Trappe, with Bobbie Hoffman, Director of Discipling, St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Providence Mennonite Cemetery, Upper Providence Twp. Friends may call on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., both times at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Project Outreach, 410 Washington St., Royersford, PA 19468.
