Richard Valenteen

RICHARD VALENTEEN, 90, OF PHOENIXVILLE Richard Valenteen, 90, husband of E. Elaine (Pechin) Valenteen of Phoenixville died on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Manatawny Manor, East Coventry. Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late John R. and Sophie (Emery) Valenteen. Richard graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1940 and faithfully served on his class reunion committee over the years. He worked as a draftsman for the Phoenix Bridge Company until its closing, and then worked for many years and subsequently retired from the Chester County Planning Commission. Dick served as a deacon and head usher for many years at First Presbyterian Church in Phoenixville. He enjoyed tennis, swimming, dancing, golf, and he was an avid reader. He also was a longtime member of the West End Fire Company. In addition to his wife of 69 years, he is survived by sons, Richard Terry and his wife Barbara Valenteen of Ventura, CA and Pagosa Springs, CO; Douglas J. and his wife Tacy Valenteen of Royersford, and grandsons, Christopher Valenteen and Peter Valenteen. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Eva Johnson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. Burial will be private.
