Anthony P. Nigro, a sales representative, passed away peacefully Friday, March 1, 2013 at the age of 61.|
Mr. Nigro, a resident of Gilbertsville, was employed by Romeo's of Gilbertsville. He was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bridgeport. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parochial School and Bishop Kenrick High School, Class of 1969. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 101st Airborne Division and was awarded The Purple Heart for wounds received in action along with the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and The Marksman (Rifle) Ribbon. Anthony enjoyed fishing, boating and going to the casino.
Born in Norristown May 21, 1951, he was the son of Jeannette (Cedar) Nigro of Royersford and the late Tony Nigro.
Surviving him are three sons, Anthony Nigro, of Florida, Anthony William Nigro and Brandon Fritz, both of Boyertown. He is also survived by a daughter, Mandy Roger, of Charlotte, N.C. Additionally, he's survived by five grandchildren, a sister, Angela Hartner and her husband, Robert, of Royersford, and a nephew, Bobby Hartner.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Nigro.
Memorial services will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from the Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home, Inc., 305 Jefferson St., Swedesburg, Upper Merion Twp. The Rev. Salvatore Pronesti, pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Bridgeport, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia.
Friends may call Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral.
