Dale R. Brobst, 71, of Lyon Station, passed away April 24, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Alta L. (Dietrich) Brobst, having celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in February.
Born in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Elda M. (Wisser) Brobst. He was a 1960 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.
Mr. Brobst was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyon Station, for seven years, retiring in 2004. Prior to that, he was employed by ACME Markets, Inc., Kutztown, for 30 years.
Mr. Brobst joined the Lyon's Fire Company Truck Crew in 1993, where he was a former Fire Police Captain for 10 years. He was also a former trustee and active volunteer and fundraiser for the Lyon's Fire Company.
He enjoyed being a BINGO checker every Wednesday evening, for many years, helping the ladies auxiliary at the fire company. He also volunteered at the annual Lyons Fiddle Festival for many years. Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman; and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors: Wife, Alta; daughters, Audrey L. (Brobst), wife of Jeffrey P. Neiman, Donna R. (Brobst), wife of Todd A. DeLong, both of Mertztown, Kelly L. (Brobst), wife of Craig D. Kerschner, Fleetwood; brothers Barry Brobst, Jeffrey Brobst, and Gary Brobst, all of Kempton; four grandchildren, Darren R. Kerschner, Tyler R. DeLong, Rachel L. DeLong, Deryk S. Kerschner; and his four-legged companion, Misty. He was predeceased by his beloved dog, Cuddles.
Memorial services April 28, at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Cheryl F. Meinschein officiating. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. There are no calling hours.
