EDNA I. MESSNER, 85, OF DOUGLASSVILLE Edna I. (Shober) Messner, 85, of Douglassville, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Homestead Village, Lancaster. She was born in Denver to the late Martin and Mary (Taylor) Shober, and was the wife of Jacob A. Messner, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Edna was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Douglassville. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and playing cards. In addition to her husband, Edna is survived by two sons, Brent A., husband of Janet (Mehle) Messner of Sinking Spring, and Kerry L., husband of Sandra (Hurst) Messner of Pottstown; three grandchildren, Timothy, husband of Michelle; Alecia, and Adam, husband of Emily; three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Kate and Dylan; four sisters, Helen Gensemer, Mary Troupe and Polly Emerick, all of Denver, and Ethel, wife of Pierce Lesher of Adamstown, and a brother, Richard, husband of Marion (Gehman) Shober of Denver. Edna was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Ralph, George, Ed and John Shober, and two sisters, Arlene Emes and Grace Kurtz. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver, with an additional viewing on Friday, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by her funeral service at 10 a.m., with Rev. Gregory W. Frey officiating. Interment will take place in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Roseboro Stradling Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Denver.
