Obituary Condolences

ELLIS K. HARLAN, 90 Ellis K. Harlan, 90, died recently at Manatawny Manor where he resided the past five years. Born in Philadelphia, he and his late wife Gladys Hoffman Harlan lived on Bruce Drive in Pottstown. They were married January 1, 1949 at Valley Forge Chapel. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellis E. Harlan, Ellis was an outside salesman for Abbott's Dairy for 20 years and retired at age 81 from Van Bennett Foods makers of Betty's Salads, where he was responsible for the Redner's Warehouse account. Exemplifying Tom Brokaw's definition of "The Greatest Generation", Ellis served with the Seventh Armored Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Stichter Lodge and Reading Consistory for over 50 years. Currently he served as president of the resident's board at Manatawny Manor. Surviving is his nephew, R. Earl Kline and his wife, Carol Sauppe Kline of Boyertown. He was preceded in death by grandniece, Jodi L. Kline Services were private.
