Obituary Condolences

GERALD R. LONG SR., 88, OF BOYERTOWN Gerald R. "Jake" Long Sr., 88, husband of C. Virginia (Hanson) Long, died Tuesday, at Chestnut Knoll, Boyertown. He was a former resident of Maple Avenue, Perkiomen Twp. Mr. Long was born on May 25, 1923, in Norristown. He was a son of the late Howard K. and Sally (Roshong) Long. Mr. Long retired as a quality control inspector, in 1985, from the B.F. Goodrich Co., Upper Providence Twp., where he worked 43 years. Mr. Long was a member of Heidelberg United Church Of Christ and a former member of its consistory. He also was a member of Warren Lodge #310, Free & Accepted Masons, Collegeville; the Perkiomen Valley High Twelve Club; Washington Camp #387, Patriotic Order Sons of America, Schwenksville; and the United Rubber Workers Local #281 Retirees Club. In addition to his wife, with whom he celebrated his 69th wedding anniversary on February 13th, Mr. Long is survived by his son, Gerald R. Jr., husband of Carol (Ashton) Long, New Hanover Twp.; his grandchildren, Gerald III, husband of Donna (Saul) Long; Jill, wife of Fred Miller, and Allison, wife of Ryan Schock, and his great-grandchildren, Sarah Long, Kelli Long, Jennifer Long, Julianna Miller and Charles Miller. He was preceded in death by his eight siblings. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Heidelberg United Church Of Christ, with the Rev. Susan Hanson, Pastor, and the Rev. Barry Moyer, Chaplain, Caring Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Schwenksville Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Heidelberg United Church Of Christ, 251 Perkiomen Ave., Schwenksville, PA 19473. Arrangements are by the Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe.
