Gerald W. Dames, 83, of North Evans Street, Pottstown, husband of Dorothy E. (Dampman) Dames, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.|
Born in Pottstown, Pa., he was a son of the late Edward I. Dames and the late Esther (Mauger) Dames.
He was the owner of the former Dames Chevrolet in Pottstown from 1982 to 2008, and also worked at Keiser Chevrolet from 1952 to 1982.
He served in the Navy serving on Aircraft Carrier Midway from 1948 to 1952.
Mr. Dames was member of Grace Lutheran Church, Pottstown, Stitcher Lodge No. 254 F&AM, and the Benovelent Order of Elk's Lodge No. 814, Pottstown.
Surviving beside his wife are two sons Gerald W. Dames, Jr. and his wife Jean, East Coventry Twp., Robert A. Dames, Pottstown; three grandchildren Robert A. Dames, Jr., Keith A. Dames, and Valerie Dames. He was predeceased by a brother Edward I. Dames, and a grandson Aaron Lewis Dames.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory 359 King St., Pottstown. Officiating will be Reverend Paul Xander. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. There will be no viewing.
