GLADYS MAY FRANKLIN, 84, OF STOWE Gladys May (Ludy) Franklin, 84, peacefully in her Stowe home cared for by loved ones on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. She was the widow of Charles F. Franklin, and daughter of the late Grace (Sample) Ludy of Kittanning, PA and William Mathias Ludy of Pottstown. She is survived by daughters Leda G., wife of David Kalis, Barto, PA and Wanda K., wife of Matthew Washko, Upper Pottsgrove PA, and a son Michael A. Franklin of Stowe, PA. She is predeceased by her daughter, Leanora F., wife of Siegfried Heintz. She had 11 beloved grandchildren: Michael L. Kancianic and his wife Nanette (Demas) Kancianic of Pottstown, with whom she resided for 3 years; Gregory S. Kancianic, Daniel J. and wife Phoebe (Johnson) Kancianic, Rebekka L. Heintz, Robert L. Kovatto Jr. and wife Melissa (Phillips) Kovatto, Nicholas C. Kovatto, Jeffrey J. Washko, Juliana G. Washko, Myranda B. (Kalis) Sarro and husband Anthony Sarro, Jeremiah C. Kalis, and Charles W. Kalis. Her great-grandchildren are Trent, Amanda, Kathryn, Abigail, Aiden, Eli, and Isaac, Skye, Callan, and one great-great grandson, Christian. For many years, she was active in the West Pottsgrove PTA, and also served as dedicated crossing guard at West Pottsgrove Elementary School during the 1970's. In recent years, she enjoyed attending the Adult Daycare Program at Manatawny Manor, where she made many new friends. Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many in the Stowe and Pottstown area. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 6 p.m. from Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA with the Rev. Daryl Nelson officiating. A viewing will be Friday from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
