GLORIA 'BECKY' DEEGAN, 81 OF BELPRE, OH Gloria "Becky" Deegan, 81 of Belpre, OH, passed away June 19, 2012 at CCMC, Memorial Campus. She was born in suburban Philadelphia on July 15, 1930 and educated in Pottstown, PA, just 35 miles up the Schuykill River at Pottstown Sr. High School. She was the daughter of Carl and Marion (Sorber) Endy. Becky was a well-known ceramic artist having had training at the FREI Academy of the Hague in Holland and at WVU-P where she also instructed pottery. She joined with several local crafters in the formation of the Riverside Artist in Marietta, OH; a gallery and gift shop of the finest arts and craft personnel in the Mid-Ohio Valley. She was also widely known for her showing and demonstrating of beautiful pottery at arts and craft shows throughout the eastern United States. Her work was also shown at the Parkersburg Art Center. She was a regular contributor to the Empty Bowls annual charitable lunches sponsored by Marietta church groups. Private showings of her work were displayed at her studio- home in Belpre, OH which she shared with her husband of 63 years; Claude C. Deegan Sr.; local painter and sculptor. In addition to her husband, Becky is survived by three sons; Claude C. Deegan Jr. (Colleen) of Anderson, SC, Thomas Lawrence Deegan, and James David Deegan both of Belpre, OH, one daughter; Claudia Lynn Deegan Damelio (Thomas) of Wilmington, DE, six grandchildren; Zachary, Todd, Erin, Thomas Neal, Shawn, and Tasso, and three great-grandchildren; Conner, Gwenn Sophia, and Christian. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, five aunts; Miriam Trout, Beatrice Sommerday, Dorothy Wilson, Adele Benini, and Greta Bolton, one uncle; Henry Endy, and grandmothers and grandfathers of Endy and Sorber.
