Gurrie Hilborn Obituary

GURRIE HILBORN OF SPRING CITY Gurrie Hilborn, wife of the late Blaine Hilborn, passed away quietly on September 23, 2011. She was born on February 2, 1924 in Spring City, to the late George W. and Dorothy Kimes Beard. Mrs. Hilborn attended Spring City schools, graduating in 1942. She worked for various companies in the local area as an executive assistant, and she retired from the Pennhurst School. Mrs. Hilborn was an avid reader, pet owner and she and her husband enjoyed many weekends antiquing and eating at small, out-of-the way country inns. She was a life-long member of the Spring City United Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Guy Hilborn (Roberta) of Birdsboro; granddaughter, Grace Hilborn of Birdsboro; sister, Suzanne Frey of Kyle, TX; brother, Harry Bearde of Spring City, and brother, Jon Bearde of Malvern. She was predeceased by her brothers, Keith Bearde and Rodger Bearde, and her sister, Sara Jane Emswiler. A short memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, at the Spring City UCC Church on Chestnut Street. Contributions may be made to the Chester County SPCA.
