Obituary Condolences

Harold H. Bitting, 92, widower of Glenna (Adams) Bitting and Shirley (Weber) Bitting, of Souderton, formerly of East Greenville, died September 5, 2013 at home.
Born in East Greenville, he was a son of the late Sterlan and Ellen (Hoffman) Bitting.
He was Co-owner of the former B & H Food Market in East Greenville from 1947 until 1985.
He was a longtime member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ and Perkiomen Lodge #595 F&AM. He served on the board of the former East Greenville Savings and Loan, the Upper Montgomery Joint Authority and the Upper Perkiomen School Board. He was a founder and original Charter Member of the Indian Valley Country Club and a Past President of the East Greenville Fire Company.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Christine (Robert) Herbst, Chester Springs, H. Brian (Caroline) Bitting, East Greenville, Jane (John) Lumm, Ann Arbor, MI and David Bitting, East Greenville; eight step-children, Eric (Polly) Brunner, Telford, Bruce (Terri) Kirkpatrick, West New York, N.J., Steven "Jerry" (the late Patti) Kirkpatrick, Chambersburg, Kenneth (Kathleen) Kirkpatrick, of Eagleville, Marcia Anderson, Warrington, Gregory (Rev. Amy) Kirkpatrick, Schuylkill Haven, Valerie (Robert) Hager, Perkasie and Colin (Marie) Kirkpatrick, Quakertown; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by brothers, Paul and Roger Bitting and sister, Myrtle Scholl.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA 18041. Visitations are Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 and 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday with a Masonic Service at 10:45 a.m. at church.
