James E. "Train Man" Prindle

Obituary Condolences

James E. Prindle, 66, of Gilbertsville, husband of Joan A. (Portzer) Prindle, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Born in Lansdowne, Pa., he was a son of the late Allen G. Prindle and the late Louise E. (Fawley) Prindle.
He was a 1963 graduate of Ridley High School. James started his career working for various dealerships in the Philadelphia area in the service department. He then worked as a self-employed contractor in the Gilbertsville area for more than 18 years. Jim currently owned and operated Prindle's Toy Train Shop in Bechtelsville. Jim was a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, spending time at flea markets and his passion was trains.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife of 30 years, are two sons, James, husband of Sherri, of Pittsburgh, and Chris, husband of Cindy, of Boyertown, one daughter, Jennifer, wife of Randy Trout, of Fleetwood, two stepdaughters, Debbie Curtiss-Geiger, wife of Richard, of Gilbertsville, Kathy, wife of William Hanna, of Gilbertsville, 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Allen W. Prindle, of Ridley, and one sister, Carol A. McCollaum, of Holmes, Pa.
He was predeceased by one sister, Louise E. Rogers, and two brothers, Richard A. Prindle and Bart Prindle.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Tri-County Bible Church, 142 Buchert Road, Gilbertsville. There will be no viewing. Relatives and friends will be received from 6 to 6:50 p.m. at the church. Burial will be private at Limerick Garden of Memories.
