JAMES J. GRANGER SR., 86, OF LOWER POTTSGROVE James J. Granger Sr., 86, husband of Jeanette (Stiles) Granger, Sanatoga Ridge, Lower Pottsgrove Twp., died Sunday, at Seasons Hospice, in Phoenixville Hospital. He was a former resident of Lower Providence Twp. Mr. Granger was born on October 13, 1925, in Norristown. He was a son of the late Lewis S. and Gertrude (Marr) Granger. During World War II, Mr. Granger served as a US Coast Guard Seaman First Class, aboard the USS Theenim (AKA 63), during the invasions of Guadalcanal and Okinawa. Mr. Granger retired in 1987, from the Philadelphia Electric Co., where he worked for 34 years. During his retirement, he was a property supervisor at Lower Providence Presbyterian and landscaper at Sanatoga Ridge Community. Mr. Granger was a 48 year member of Lower Providence Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and deacon. He was a life member of the Montgomery Hose Co., Norristown, a life member of the Lower Providence Fire Co., a member of the Jefferson Fire Co., W. Norriton Twp., and a member of the Senior Circle, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mr. Granger is survived by his children, Donna, wife of James Moser, Skippack Twp., James Granger, Jr., Amity Twp., and Barbara, wife of Phillip Cieri, Lower Providence Twp.; five grandchildren, and six great-granddaughters; and one niece and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lewis Granger, Jr. and Gertrude Granger. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Lower Providence Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Thursday, at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Providence Presbyterian Church, 3050 W. Ridge Pike, Lower Providence Twp., Norristown, PA 19403-1581. Arrangements are by the Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe.
