Joyce N. Shuman, 81, formerly of Blandon, died Nov. 10, 2012 in the St. Joseph's Medical Center where she was admitted Nov. 9.
She was the widow of Carroll G. Shuman who died Nov. 2, 1997. They had been married 49 years.
Born in Reading on Jan. 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Esther Shuman.
Surviving are the following children; two daughters, Patty J. Rios and Susan N. Lash, both of Fleetwood; Five sons David L., husband of Donna J. Shuman of Richmond Township, Glenn, husband of Jessica Shuman of Muhlenberg Township, Brian K., husband of Renee Shuman of Mertztown, Larry, husband of Joanne C. Shuman of Laureldale, and Scott Shuman of Blandon.
Joyce had 13 grandchildren; Sherri, Cori, Marlo, Ryan, William, Tyler, Nicole, Laurie, Bryn, Zachery, Ashley, Nathan, and Norman. She, also, had 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Shuman had a brother, Robert Shuman, of Mount Penn and a sister, Mildred Dawson, of Kutztown.
She was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Bud Shuman; and sisters, Betty Wentzel and Doris Aldinger.
Mrs. Shuman was a member Maidencreek United Church of Christ. Also, she was a member of Blandon Fire Company #1 and The Red Hatters.
Joyce was employed by the former Campbell's Soup Company of Evansville as a production employee.
Her hobbies included NASCAR, Rusty Wallace, Philadelphia Phillies, and auto racing at the former Reading Fair grounds.
Funeral services from Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. Temple on Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. with her pastor the Reverend Sara Hertzog officiating. Interment in Maidencreek Union Cemetery. Family received friends on Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. until time of services. Condolences may be offered at milkinsgiles.com.
