Obituary Condolences

Kaye William Keiter, 81, of Douglassville, beloved husband of Linda A. (Cannell) Keiter, passed away Friday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Gurney and Mary (Weand) Keiter.
Kaye was affectionately known as "Bear". He had a sharp mind, and a kind, compassionate, easygoing and generous spirit. He was a Korean War Army veteran, was proud to be in the National Honor Guard and was a Legionnaire member.
He worked at Bethlehem Steel for eight years and at Firestone for 23, along with various others jobs. Kaye was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Coventry Church of the Brethren. He had a good bass voice singing in the E.L. Church Choir from Jr. all the way to Sr., the Coventry Brethren Church and St. Mark Lutheran Church choirs, where his wife was organist.
He played in E.L. Church's Little League baseball team and still has the outfit he wore and the glove that he used. Kaye had a large collection of Indy Car and NASCAR memorabilia. He loved to talk about racing, football and the Phillies. He loved working on his cars and keeping them clean and shiny. He was a member of A.J. Foyt Indy Race Care driver fan club and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Kenny Brightbill, who was a modified race car driver at Reading Speedway. He was good friends with Indy Race Car driver Johnny Thompson. He was also an avid fan of college and NFL football and the Phillies.
Surviving with his wife of 45 years is his friend, Ken Adams, who was like a son, as well as cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Corene Fizz and his brother-in-law, who was also like a son, John Dettore.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown with the Rev. Larry Graybill, of Woodbury Church of the Brethren, Woodbury, Pa., officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
