Kenneth E. "Smitty" Smith, 63, husband of Donna Marie (Hylinski) Smith of Limerick, died Thursday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born on Nov. 1, 1949, in Norristown. He was a son of the late Stanley P. and Mary L. (Fretz) Smith of Creamery.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Preston E., husband of Darlene (Hunsberger), Gilbertsville, and David M. and his girlfriend Courtney Klinger, Souderton. He has two grandchildren, Carter and Layla. He is also survived by several siblings.
Mr. Smith was a 1967 graduate of Collegeville-Trappe High School. He served as a construction mechanic 3rd class, with the U.S. Navy Seabees in Vietnam.
Smitty retired in 2011 after working at the Collegeville-Trappe Joint Public Works Department for 38 years. He previously worked for Allied Tank Co., Collegeville.
Ken was a car enthusiast. He loved cruising in his corvette. He was an avid fan of NHRA and NASCAR. He loved to watch and attend car races with his wife and family. He enjoyed camping in Lancaster County. He was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments in life. "Pop-Pop" loved spending time with his grandchildren. They brought a smile to his face every time he was with them. He enjoyed "tinkering" around his home.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 to 11a.m., at the Holcombe Funeral Home Inc., 21 Main St., Trappe. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday. Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick.
