Lewis J. Dobbs Obituary
LEWIS J. DOBBS, 85 OF POTTSTOWN Lewis "Jules" Dobbs of Pottstown, PA passed away on February 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born February 13, 1928 in Tamaqua, PA he was the son of the late Walter and Cecilia. He was the husband of Anne (Geusic) Dobbs for 55 wonderful years. He was predeceased by his twin brother Eddie. They were known as the "Dub twins". They had many great years and fun times together including putting on shows diving off the three meter boards, softball tournaments, card games, Lithuania days, dancing, and spending time in the Airforce together in Japan. He was also predeceased by his sweet sister Sophie and brothers Walter and Peter. He is survived by his dear sister Aldona, son David and his wife Andrea and daughter Sandy, who was always Daddy's girl. He was most proud of his five awesome grandchildren. He adored his oldest granddaughter Ashlyn who graduated from the University of Albany on a field hockey scholarship. He loved watching his only grandson Zach play basketball since he was five years old. He was able to attend Zach's basketball game on his 18th birthday on December 13th 2013. Shortly after that he was thrilled to hear about his 1000 points in his high school basketball career and so proud of his college basketball scholarship. Before every game he would say "give it all you got and then some". He was so proud of Cassidy and all her academic achievements, artistic ability, and enjoyed watching her play basketball. He also loved watching those "kills" in her volleyball games. He was so happy to attend Ava's softball games and was always cheering for her. Etienne was his youngest grandchild who he was always giving fist pumps and dollars for all her good grades. He adored his lovely wife Anne. They were great dancers and enjoyed the big bands. From the days at the Lansford pool and dancing at the Lakewood Ballroom, she was by his side until his last moment. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church and an usher for many years. He was an avid bowler for over 50 years with four 300 games. He spent years playing pinochle and in recent years played with the crew at the Pottstown YMCA Senior Center. He was a huge Yankees, Phillies, and Celtics fan. He had fond memories of graduating from Tamaqua High School and attended every reunion. He retired from Teleflex Marine after 35 years. He was a great friend to many, a loving and devoted husband, and the best father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his devoted and caring family and friends. Funeral services are private and in lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his name to St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 223 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
