Linus F. Adams Obituary
Linus F. Adams, 96, husband of Mary E. “Melly” (Woodward) Adams, Long Neck, DE, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Cadia Health Care, Renaissance, Millsboro, DE. He lived in Upper Providence Twp. until moving to Delaware in 1987. Mr. Adams was born on November 23, 1921, in Linfield, Limerick Twp., to the late Harry W. and Hannah E. (Bartman) Adams. He was a Royersford High School graduate. Before retiring in 1986, Mr. Adams was a custom milling estimator for Frederick Brothers, Pottstown. He previously worked for S.S. Keely & Sons, Manayunk, and Bush Brothers, Royersford. Mr. Adams was a staff sergeant and aircraft crew chief with Marine Air Group 21, 3rd Marine Div., in the South Pacific, during World War Two. He was a member and former commandant of the Diamond State (Sussex Co.) Marine Corps League, where he founded its honor and color guard. He also was a member of Oak Orchard Riverdale Post #28, American Legion, Post 7447 Veterans Of Foreign Wars, Rehoboth Beach, and the Military Order Of The Devil Dogs. Mr. Adams was a member of the Lutheran Church Of Our Savior, Rehoboth Beach, where he served on the building committee. He was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, Royersford, where he served on the council and property committee. In addition to his wife of 71 years, Mr. Adams is survived by his daughter, Cheryl A., wife Richard A. Holcombe, Trappe; his grandchildren, Rebecca A., wife of Keith A. Wilson, Lansdale, and Stephen A., husband of Danielle M. (Ward) Holcombe, Upper Providence Twp.; and his sister, Marlene E. wife of late Donald S. Bush, Boyertown. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, at Augustus Lutheran Church, 717 W. Main St., Trappe, with the Rev. G. Warren Weleck, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be private in Augustus Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:15 AM, Monday, at church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps League Foundation,http://www.mclfoundation.org/, Suite 115, 3619 Jefferson Davis HWY, Stafford, VA 22554.
