MARGARET I. MESSER, 84, OF POTTSTOWN Margaret I. (Harbacs) Messer, 84, of Pottstown, wife of Frederick Messer died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Manatawny Manor Nursing Home, East Coventry. Born in Stowe she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Zueno) Harbacs. Margaret, a 1947 graduate of Pottsgrove High School, was employed at the former George Hudick Welding Shop for 10 years, then at Kiwi Shoe Polish for 25 years before retiring in 1991. Margaret was a member of St. Aloysius Church and the Slovak American Women's Guild, and was also a former volunteer at the National Center for Padre Pio. Margaret loved her family very much and enjoyed cooking for them (especially Thanksgiving). She always looked forward to all family gatherings especially our Fourth of July Reunions and Christmas Eve Suppers. Margaret is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frederick Messer, one son, Ronald Messer husband of Dori, and two daughters, Geraldine wife of Don Roussey, and Irene wife of James Skarbek. She has eight granddaughters: Michele Snyder, Geri-Lyn Kerr, Denise Brownlee, Mindy Mays, Jacqueline Bowers, Adrienne Staccione, Maria Buck and Lisa Zottola; three grandsons: Lee, Mark and Kevin Skarbek, and 25 great-grandchildren, who called her Mom-Mom. Margaret is also survived by seven sisters, Mary Dolhanczyk, Eleanor Panfile, Ann (Joseph) Ross, Irene (Andrew) Lopuski, Betty Grace, Jeanette (William) Gatta and Theresa (Ronald) Yost and one brother, Joseph (Pauline) Harbach. Also surviving are many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Vanore, Sophie Paolucci, Dorothy Conway; brother James Harbach, and grandson John Mays. Margaret will be deeply missed by all her family and all those who knew her. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C., Hanover and Beech Streets, Pottstown on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow immediately in St. Aloysius New Cemetery in Pottstown, PA. A viewing will be Friday, February 7, 2014 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, 726 E. High Street, Pottstown, PA. Visitation will be Saturday, 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at St. Aloysius Gathering Center.
