Mildred M. Dawson, 87, of Kutztown, passed away April 18, 2013 peacefully, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading.|
Mildred was born in Reading, on Nov. 20, 1925, a daughter of the late Esther N. (Gilbert) and Elmer L. Shuman.
She was employed as a counter clerk at V&S Sandwich Shop, Shillington for 21 years, retiring in 1991. She was also employed at Linette Candy Company for 7 years as a candy packer.
She was a vice president of the Seniors Club at George M. Rhodes Apts., Reading, from 1994-95 and the People Over 50 Club of St. Marks Lutheran Church for 10 years.
Ssurvived by three daughters: Penelope, wife of Paul Oswald of Mertztown; Heather, wife of William Haas of Shillington; Stephanie Churchill of Shillington; two sons: James, husband of Debra Wesner, of Reading; and Steven, husband of Renata Wesner, of Huntersville, N.C.; and a brother, Robert, husband of Betty Shuman, of Pennside. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sisters: Doris Aldinger, Betty Wentzel and Joyce Shuman, and two brothers: Harvey Shuman Jr. and Donald Shuman.
At the family's request there will be no visitation. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service at the John P. Feeney Funeral Home, Reading, at 1 p.m. on April 27.
