RICHARD S. IRVIN, 72, OF POTTSTOWN Richard S. Irvin, 72, of Pottstown, husband of Barbara "Bobbi" Ann (Wilkinson) Irvin of 50 years, passed away Sunday at his residence. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel William and Ethel Velair (Robinson) Irvin. Richard was a former member of the Board of Trustees at Grace Assembly of God, Spring City. He was also a member of Spring Hollow Golf Club, where he formed the first Thursday league. He was a former volunteer as chief engineer at Linfield Fire Co. Richard was a member of Manderach Playground Building Committee. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog, Laila. At Christmas time, he played Santa Claus for the local children and businesses. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps. and was part of the 2nd recon division from 1957-1960. Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Richard S. Irvin Jr. of Pottstown, and Brian M. Irvin, husband of Kelly A. (White) of Pottstown; four daughters, Juanita J. Fryberger, wife of Phil of Spring City; Cheryl M. Peterson, wife of Kevin "Pete" D. of Exeter; Brenda L. Vorce, wife of Timothy of New Hanover Twp., and Heather A. Schneider, wife of Rodney Wagner of Douglassville; 11 grandchildren, Brooke; Chonda; Rachael, wife of Nathaniel; Kelsi, wife of Ryan; Jessica; Stephanie; Hannah; Phillip; Nicholas; Rodney, husband of Bethann, and Autumn; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Taylor, Aivrey, Savannah and one on the way, and his brother, Samuel C. Irvin, husband of Gail of Ft. Payne, AL. Along with his parents, Richard was predeceased by his granddaughter, Lauren A., and his brothers, Lane J., Gary P. "Mouse" and David R. Irvin. A funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, April 25, 10:30 a.m. at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. Visitation will be held Wednesday April 24, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Thursday, April 25, from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
